Director of Nursing
The Director of Nursing (DON) has the responsibility of overseeing the standards of nursing practices for the organization’s clinical services (Private Duty Nursing & Skilled Nursing). The DON is responsible for providing general supervision and direction of the professional services offered by the residential service agency (RSA). The DON is responsible for the implementation of an effective and on-going program to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality and appropriateness of the nursing and other direct patient related care. The DON participates in all activities relevant to the professional services furnished, including the development of qualifications and assignment of personnel.

Basic knowledge of Quality Improvement process.
Understands principles for infection control.
Able to perform nursing skills and procedures
Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) Experience: Two to four years related experience
Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Internet Research and the ability to learn other software as needed. Presents his/herself in a neat, attractive, professional appearance and manner.
Communication: Demonstrates positive written and verbal communication, internal and external to the organization.
Certificates & Licenses: Valid RN license for MD or VA. CPR Certification
State Requirements: One-year pediatric experience in the last two years, Current CPR Certification.
Availability/Accessibility: The DON shall at all times be available during operating hours, and will designate an appropriate alternative in his/her absence.
Annual Professional Development as directed by the President of the organization
Travel: Must be able to travel to attend conferences, training, visit/meet with clients and other events as required to acquire and maintain proficiency in fulfilling the responsibilities of the position
Must be able to function effectively in clinical setting with common exposure to contagious disease
